Meet the Team
Meet the team that makes this whole project possible. From the moment you open our gracious top-of-the-line clientside AntiCheat, to the moment you commit your first born child to us via the method of donations, you can tell that we've put our effort in when it comes to giving you the best experience possible.
Update Log
We're constantly improving the game by adding new features and fixing flaws left behind by Facepunch - think of it like damage control. Here is where you can find an up-to-date log on all the changes we make to our servers.
[11/5/22] Update #66: FShield v2?
It’s hard to believe that we launched FShield back in 2016. I was in high school during the development and release. When Flapstik and I released FShield we didn’t think it would still be here in 2022 with almost 100,000 players registered. Years later we realized that our current product was not going to fit our overall vision. Psycho and I decided that we would have to completely overhaul our entire product to get what we want. As you all know, that overhauled project has been in “development” for years now. As Psycho, Spicy, and myself got older and have careers now it was almost impossible to finish it. With that being said, some of you know we hired a new developer named Soda. I am really excited to say that he has saved this project and pushed our vision that we had to the finish line (migration to v2). This January we will be migrating all our servers to FShield v2. We will be releasing an open beta before this date to fix any pesky bugs (date to come).
Here is what to expect:
1.) We will be turning off v1 and migrating the entire user database to v2 so you can seamlessly login to the new client with the same credentials.
2.) We do expect our new client to trigger a lot of antivirus flags due to it being a complete rewrite. We please ask to add FShield into your antivirus exclusion list so you don't run into trouble. I am working very hard on finding a better solution to this.
3.) Setup is the exact same way. Download the new client and drop it in your Rust Legacy game folder.
Release notes:
⦁ A complete rewrite of the entire client, AntiCheat, website, literally everything. Here is what they look like now.
⦁ Full network encryption in game stopping packet sniffer radar cheats. - this was a hard one
⦁ A friend system similar to new Rust.
⦁ We added a map and compass to get around easier. This map will also display where your friends are and your homes! (utilizes the share and sethome system)
⦁ We added skin support. We plan on increasing this support with a full marketplace / supporting more items in game.
⦁ We fixed the gun models in game so you can actually see the correct weapon a person is holding.
Smaller Notes:
⦁ Removed the rock that covered a loot spawn.
⦁ Added colliders on all the stairs in rad towns so you can actually walk up them.
⦁ Custom recipes - We plan on starting out with making 9mm cheaper to craft and adding paper to a few things required in crafting.
⦁ We will be deleting your FShield.ini file with your credentials and encrypting the "remember me" login feature.
⦁ Added a server browser so you no longer have to close your game to join another server.
⦁ You will no longer have to relog on the FShield website when you change your steam name. This will now update automatically.
⦁ We have always ran our servers on dedicated machines in the highest quality data centers to give you all the best possible experience. We plan on upgrading our hardware to the latest and greatest.
Future visions:
⦁ Using our new FShield website for more things... Maybe where you can trade skins, chat with people, leaderboards, etc.
⦁ We will be removing our country block - this was originally implemented for security reasons as v1 could not be updated anymore.
⦁ Future client side modding to keep game fresh? We do want to be careful with this. I am a big believer in how simple and easy to play Legacy is.
⦁ Expand servers globally once we bounce back population.
⦁ #BringBackMega?
What about population?
So we are obviously aware that this has been dead. We could have easily kept advertising and kept the train moving. However, due to how limited v1 is, I could not justify advertising something that I know longer believed in. I plan on advertising this again when we launch. I hope that will help spread the word that you can play this game again. We are not advertising this game as "better than current Rust" or anything. This game is a fun arcade game that has great PVP / PVE. In the end, Legacy is a more casual game that I think people will love, especially with the added mods to make it more modern. With that, I think enough people like this game to hop on and play and have a nice healthy population.

The old system was also pretty complicated relying on to many different things to be online for the whole automation to work properly. Spicy rewrote the entire donation system in C# with his own custom dashboard to make my job easy with a shit ton of customization. [11/26/17] Update #45: Server host updates..
On November 28th between 12:00am - 1:00pm CST our server host will be moving our dedicated machine to a new rack in the datacenter. This will turn the server offline for a brief period of time somewhere between those times. Once they install our machine and turn it on everything should start up automatically with the way we have everything setup. This move will most likely have our server down for some hours because of the amount of servers they have to move. We apologize for any inconvenience!

[10/23/17] Update #34: DonateSystem 2.0
Psycho has been busy at work making a few improvements to DonateSystem, the system we use for handling all the donations and perks across all servers. Mainly, we've added functionality for timed donations, which means we can now set up kits that last a specific number of days before your code will expire. All kits are now set to last 4 months (120 days), starting from the moment of purchase.
All existing kits have been activated on this 120 day expiry date as of today, so don't be confused if you start getting code expiry messages sometime around late February.
We want to make sure that there is a steady revenue flow so we can continue doing what we do for as long as possible. There are high costs associated with running this project, including development and server hosting. With this more consistent donation setup we hope to relieve some of the stress of financing involved with the project so we can focus on bringing fresh content and a better experience that all players can enjoy.
We have some great plans for the future moving forward, and we hope that with your continued support we can bring those concepts to life.

[5/7/17] Update #5: Improvements from our last update
[5/5/17] Update #4: Bye bye cracklooting!
Removing cracklooting is something that is highly debated but it is needed if we want to grow our servers.
[5/3/17] Update #3: Structures and deployables
[4/25/17] Update #2: Fluency and dupes
A big exploit was found by players and unfortunately was abused (all bases using this exploit were removed). The exploit combined 2 plugin refunds by going into a no-build zone and placing a foundation over an object causing another refund. (We put in a temporary fix by just taking out the refund when the exploit was introduced).
[4/15/17] Update #1: Numero Uno
From now on I will keep you guys informed with our work on server updates.
Today we added some custom updates to our Oxide build. For starters I would like to say that most of these are just as a "just in case" and a "why not" as we continue with development.
It’s hard to believe that we launched FShield back in 2016. I was in high school during the development and release. - AntiCheat Improvements.
- Fixed a check for some cheating programs that broke last update.
- Fixed GameConfig couldn't connect to host in console.
- A brand new Authentication system. You can now reconnect to our servers using the refresh button or using net.connect instead of having to restart FShield.
- Added support for toggling the FPS counter as well as disabling Headbob. Use config.save in console to save your preferences.(Use fshield.help in console to see commands.)
- Added tons of error messages for user diagnostics.
- Kick instead of ban for public cheats. (This does not mean you can't get banned)
- Added a loading message on client when opening Rust.
- Fixed passwords not saving correctly.
- Stabilization improvements.
[5/7/17] Update #5: Improvements from our last update
- We added two custom hooks to Oxide to improve the cracklooting patch.
- We added a check for lootables with cracklooting.
- We patched being able to put barricades and furnaces on players.
- We added a check for melee weapons being able to hit through walls. (It kinda works.. We did the best we could.)
[5/5/17] Update #4: Bye bye cracklooting!
Removing cracklooting is something that is highly debated but it is needed if we want to grow our servers.
- We added a custom Oxide hook to fix cracklooting. (Lets be honest this needed to happen)
- We fixed being able to stack gates on a gateway. (This was kind of like stacking ramps)
- We added a check in our Server Side AntiCheat protecting all loot from being shot through walls. (This was added to prevent loot being shot through a crack)
[5/3/17] Update #3: Structures and deployables
- Fixed ramps being destroyed when there was objects close on the other side of a wall. (Usually happened during raids)
- Replaced a method for detecting objects placed under foundations. (All performance improvements)
- Fixed being able to place Large Wood Spikes / Wood Spikes through walls.
- We added a new custom Oxide hook to work with our new Zone Manager plugin to have a fluent way in not letting players place foundations in no-build zones rather than give them a refund. (This change will happen in the auto restart)
- We added a new check to our Server Side AntiCheat checking a certain exploit we found. We have tested and seems to work flawlessly. Don't be naughty!
[4/15/17] Update #1: Numero Uno
From now on I will keep you guys informed with our work on server updates.
Today we added some custom updates to our Oxide build. For starters I would like to say that most of these are just as a "just in case" and a "why not" as we continue with development.
- Added an autokick for the "Already Connect To Server" glitch.
- We fixed a client crasher hack that has been floating around for some time in legacy and will trigger a autoban.
- Added a fix for a breaking legs hack. (DraB knows nothing about this)
